I’ve got a shortlist of those automotive companies that I personally believe are killin’ it lately. Acura is one of those companies, and the more of their wares I’ve sampled of late, the stronger that feeling gets. Sure the NSX was amazing, but so was the first generation TLX, and the latest TLX. Kamil took a turn in the last of the 3rd gen MDXs and I’ve sampled the RDX A-Spec for another periodical. All very good, but with the discontinuation of their big sedan, the RLX, there is a new Acura flagship in town.
Meet the 2020 Acura MDX

Pricing
Like everything, progress will cost you a bit more. The current 2020 starts at $44,500 for the base FWD MDX. The detailed specs are just coming out, so it’ll take some time to dig through them. Power remains 290 horsepower for the 3.5L V6, no word yet on a “Sport Hybrid” version. The interior follows in the style of recent Acura offerings, with a good mix of sport and comfort. We look forward to our first test of Acura’s biggest offering.
In the meantime, here are some pics.

So, did the Ugly Acura Grille Designer move on to a) Lexus, b) GM Trucks or c) BMW?
This grille is noticeably less abhorrent than on previous Acuras, in that I no longer have to yell: “MeDiX! Stat!” whenever I see one.
The removable second row middle seat is genius. Best of both world. Maybe they should offer a bulky console for that space, for those who want such a thing.
As a multi-kid parent I LOVE captains chairs. It removes a seat, but allows for easier access into the 3rd row. So I dig it.
Beautiful – I’m getting one like this next year. Thanks for the pics and review.
