Toyota Supra: On the track and on the street

We’re taking a long look (for us) at the Toyota Supra today.

Towards the end of 2019, I had the change to drive a Supra on track. I saved that footage knowing I’d get to spend time with the car a few months later. So I’ve combined the footage into one longer-style review.

This is a look at the Toyota Supra both on the track and on the street.

    Love the sound of it, especially f it has the “settle down Beavis” switch when you get tired of it. I like them a lot more than I thought I would, but the C8 is way more compelling.

    Honda needs to plot twist the whole thing and make an S3000 for like $40k.

    Good review. Pretty much nails what I’ve always thought, it’s nice, and pretty quick, but I’ll never buy one.

    Cool in a lot of very important ways (yea!, inline six!), but a letdown in a couple of critical ones. First off, no matter how good it is to drive, I wouldn’t want a car like this as an automatic. Yeah, yeah, more savethemanual whine. But seriously, this is a car that needs to at least offer a true manual.

    Secondly, it’s fugly as hell.

    I’ll wait for a face- and ass-lift, and a stick.

    I must admit, it’s an impressive car, and the manual transmission alone makes it more interesting than the Supra. The optional 70% split to the rear wheels is a nice feature. It’s also not nearly as ugly as the Supra, but in keeping with the Toyota brand, it’s requisitely unattractive.

    This at $38k is money well spent compared to a $50k Supra, in my opinion.

    This review reminds me of what Tim Gunn says to folks with questionable aesthetic taste when they ask him about their look:

    “If that’s the look you want, you’ve got a good one!”

    Jeff says to Supra buyers:

    “If that’s the sports car you want, you’ve got a good one!”
