Racing is still cancelled, so come watch us run the iRacing 24 Hours Nürburgring

One of the most grueling virtual endurance races of the year is upon us. The iRacing 24 Hours Nürburgring is an all out war of attrition between four classes on the most demanding circuit on the service. We’ll be entering the race this Saturday with two cars from TURN Racing Sim Tools eSport. The action starts this Saturday at 9:00 AM Eastern. The TRST eSports and TRST Black squads will be running in the GT3 and TCR class, respectively. We’ll be sharing the track with a GT4 and GT3 Cup class as well, which should make for some interesting traffic management.

Here’s how you can watch and follow along. The all star TRST eSports squad will be streaming their race here as Hefner, McCormack, Woodward, Aroyan, and Dekuysscher (we think) take on the green hell with a BMW Z4 GT3. Meanwhile, I’ll be helping the TRST Black boys with the Audi RS3 LMS TCR along with recent Rolex 24 class winners Winters, Henry Jr., and Gerber. We currently don’t have a stream set up amongst us, but another teammate may join our session to stream on our behalf. I will update this post with that link when it becomes available. (Edit: streaming here fro the time being). Also check our team Twitter for in-race updates and stream links as well.

The N24 is the toughest race of the year just to survive, let alone win. It’s an extremely tough and unforgiving track that can make traffic management a dangerous game, especially at night. But we all have experience with running it to the end and staying out of as much trouble as possible. Most of the TRST Black squad, myself included, ran a 24 hour league race at the ‘ring over the winter and finished 3rd in a very competitive TCR class. With the recent experience under our belt and some kickass setups that were ironed out with Racing Sim Tools software, we’re cautiously optimistic about this one.

Follow along this weekend if you got nothing better to do. And wish us luck. Lots and lots of luck.

I just watched a lap on Twitch at night. Man, the rear mirror doesn’t tell you _anything_ about distance!

Ha they sure don’t. Usually we run virtual mirrors with a high field of view so we can sort of tell when they’re about to be alongside us. Helps mostly with multi class. We mostly use an in-game relative timing display to see how close people really are to us.
