Weekend Edition – The Ice Track Racers

So yes, the track day wasn’t only for us amateurs. At the track, or over at the rallycross side to be precise, the ice track racers ran on spikes as we were already packing up our stuff. I managed to grab a few quick snaps of the real McCoys doing their practice runs.

This is a tuned 325i E36, and it sounded mean. On full song going through the narrower track, it was all braap braap and zang zang, scrabbling for grip, digging its spikes into the surface.

Another proper-looking thing was a Citroen C2 VTS. It’s always nice to see a small, light, FWD rally car going stupendously fast on a track.

I didn’t see the Xsara VTS do a run, but that was probably just a matter of timing. We went for a couple of quick drift runs in the 540i, four-up, so we probably missed seeing the Xsara because of that.

And what would you use as a tow wagon? A Renault Laguna, of course, with the most badass light setup I’ve ever seen on a Laguna.

Considering the Laguna's lightbulbs have all probably blown, this extensive paiskari-setup will only level it with the other cars on the road.

Proof positive: Black-Gold JPS style livery looks good on any car.

What's that van parked next to the Laguna? It looks like a Chevy Express/GMC Savana conversion van. From the back, they look like a giant toaster.
