Wagon Wednesday: Longroofs From The Street Rod Nationals in Florida

IMG_1969

So, a few weeks ago this olelongrooffan attended the Street Rod Nationals Show up in the City of Palms and, as expected, there were literally tons of cool *ss cars and trucks there. Naturally, this olelongrooffan was most interested in the longroofs in attendance at this show. I thought I would take this opportunity this Wagon Wednesday here in the Hooniverse to share them with my fellow Hoons. However, making the just is necessary to see more than this sweet old Sedan Delivery longroof hot rod.

Now this olelongrooffan will admit that this longroof was extremely desirable but, fellow Hoons, this image is just a teaser as there is a whole ‘nother post upcoming and, yes, it is based on one of my brother thejeepjunkie’s favorite marques, Willys. Stay tuned Hoons.

However, this olelongroof was able to find a few other longroofs to share. This ’64 is a sweet offering. There was a bunch of cars in the corral offered by a local dealer. The SS Camaro seen next to it was another offering but as I was reviewing my already uploaded images, I noticed I didn’t even bother capturing another image of it. I guess the roof just isn’t long enough.

But this longroof? Well, it warranted a pair of images. Although this one has been slightly customized with its shaved door handles, chrome side trim delete, engine swap, and late model wheels, it still is sweet enough to be included in my fantasy garage. And that paint was about a mile deep. Just needs a roof rack, IMHO.

Now I am a little ambivalent  about this 1928 Dodge Brothers taxicab’s inclusion as a longroof but it sure was a gorgeous ride. The placard out front referenced how this was the standard fare (see what I did there) for taxis back in the day in big cities such as Chicago and New York. Me? I just like the lines of this “open fender” ride from an era my dad, TheGentlemanFarmer, enjoyed so much.

So, lo and behold, this olelongrooffan was enjoying the sight of this gorgeous street rodified woody longroof. I mean it is a bright yellow, gorgeous rodified powerplant, excellent wire wheels, gorgeous wood components and huge *ssed horns out front. I then circled around out back and what did I see?

IMG_2004

Why it was The Kenman and his gorgeous bride, Goldie, admiring the very same longroof this olelongrooffan was enjoying. I captured this image of them prior to saying hello to them and they weren’t surprised at seeing me enjoy this sweet longroof as well. Of course The Kenman had picked up a souvenir. As he stated, “Every location we visit when we go on one of those cruises Goldie enjoys so much, I pick up a license plate. I forgot to get one from Panama last year so I was excited to see a NOS one available here. I just had to grab it.”

Well, as we had started at opposite ends of the corral, I headed east while they headed west. Just the next row over, I spotted another rodified sedan delivery. This one was in Coca-Cola livery and it had all the bells and whistles.

IMG_2015

And those bells and whistles included this bar stool clad cooler trailers with it matching baby moons and beauty rings. Yeah, it was quite the sight nestled between a ’53 Chevy and a late 60’s Lemans convertible. And this olelongrooffan loves the motorcycle sized trailer tag on that cooler.

When this olelongrooffan spotted this flat top VW camper, my first thought was that it was a Riviera out of Vancouver, Washington from way back when Westfalia couldn’t meet the demand for VW campers. However, this one was an Anderson out of the Carolinas produced for the very same reason.

IMG_2034

Just a row or two over, I spotted this ’61 longroof. And man did it look sweet. I’m not a huge fan of those wheels but the otherwise stock appearance of this beauty sure made my mouth water.

IMG_2035

Yeah, my fellow Hoons, if this olelongrooffan wins with that pink slip this Wagon Wednesday, I’m agonna buy one of these and come visit each and every one of you. I mean that Antii. A six passenger metal interior wagon, I mean what’s not to like about this Parkwood?

IMG_2037

And not to leave our fellow Canadian Hoons feel neglected, how about a Acadian longroof for your viewing pleasure? Yeah this Chevelle looking longroof even had an older gentleman sitting out back telling the history of this only in Canada offered GM series. Naturally, as this olelongrooffan is a Hoon afterall, I didn’t stick around for that story telling session.

IMG_2041

As I was heading back from the east to the west area where I had parked my longerroof, I spotted this sweet Merc longroof. However this one was slightly more rodified than the one theKid and I had spotted many moons ago up there in the Birthplace of Speed. But this one sure was sweet.

IMG_2042

And what kind of Hoon would this olelongrooffan be if I didn’t stop and gather an image of this Pontiac Astre Panel straight line race car?

IMG_2051

And on the way out, this olelongrooffan couldn’t help but to pass through the swap meet area of this show. It was there I captured this image of the sister to my olestationbus. I can’t help but to proclaim I liked mine a whole lot better. But having said that, this one sold for $1,500.00. Unfortunately way out of LeMons pricing.
