Vintage Dragging at 240 FPS to Puccini

Some things just go well together: beer and bratwurst, beer and football, beer and beaches. What about nostalgic drag racing, in monotone slow motion, set to Italian opera? Curious? Make the jump, crank up the speakers, and prepare to be pleasantly surprised.

There are some great dragsters in that clip, including a squirrelly old Anglia (I think – the vid is kinda contrasty there) which you don't see anymore. I get the juxtaposition of the music versus the visuals, but I still don't care much for opera.

    Gassers are always way cool.

That much beer, you'll be a gasser, too!

    Sweet.

'50 Ford gasser versus a '58 Chevy Cameo pickup? What's wrong with that?

I now understand that I never fully appreciated opera before.
Also, check out the twist on those Goodyears at 0:51… crazy.

The wrinklewalls do look cool in slo-mo. I've never seen that before.

I'm not a big fan of drag racing and I can only take opera in moderate doses, so this video is great!

Henry J versus Cameo, you mean. Wow, outstanding.

I stand corrected. Hey, a Henry J is even more legendary. Thanks for pointing this out!

That pairing is the equivalent of a couple of paguses (pegusi? More than one pegusus, anyway.) going at it! It's not something you'd see these days, that's for sure.
