V.I.S.I.T. : Remember That? Edition, and a Quick Update

It’s been a while since we did a V.I.S.I.T. feature, and that’s a gosh darn shame, don’t you think? Let’s revisit a feature that used to be one of my favorite things about Hooniverse.

I spotted this nice little Avanti after work today. According to the license plate, it’s a 1982 model. If that’s the case, it would be one of the Avanti II, one of the last of the Altman brother Avantis. The Avanti was never my favorite car, but I really loved the unique design and that it just refused to die.

I ran across this blue sedan last weekend while visiting my new/old favorite ice cream place (Braum’s). I feel like the anti-Hoon for admitting this, but I can’t figure out what make this is. I’m fairly certain that it’s a Pontiac. Help out an embarrassed hoon here. I couldn’t find the owner, and it was gone by the time I finished my ice cream sundae.

Slightly off-topic, but my wife and I found a nice house on the end of a quiet street, with a huge yard and a creek. I’m happy to be settled down, but I’m really excited to have a garage again – my own work space! Yes, the old truck is still going. It’s taken us halfway across the country to the middle of the Ozarks, but it’s running great. I’m a little worried about rust, after seeing so many pickups here with rusted out beds, fenders, and bumpers. Keeping it clean will probably help. By the way, our dog Jack says hi. Here he is hanging out with me, probably wondering why I’m standing in the yard. BTW, does anybody need a camper shell?
Like I said at the beginning, I always loved the V.I.S.I.T. posts when I first started hanging around this corner of the internet. I enjoy that other people are out enjoying their cars, and I enjoy talking about them with other hoons. In that light, let me make a personal request – if you see a cool car, an old bike, a beat up truck, or anything interesting at all, send it our way. The tip line is always open, and we’ll be happy to share your pictures with everybody. Thanks for stopping by.

The blue sedan is a ’34 Plymouth.

So my brother was right! I was certain it was some kind of Pontiac with the emblem on the grille, but alas . . .

As the former owner of a ’37 Plymouth sedan, the emblem looked familiar.

So much positive stuff happening with the ‘verse crew – marriage, kids, houses. Cool!
I send a huge VISIT-package with odd cars in St Petersburg, Russia, and the Meteor hydrofoil to Kamil a couple of weeks ago, waiting for it to be greenlighted.

I was thinking about VISIT recently. I’ll see what I can dig up. Hopefully someone else contributes something not from ’80s or ’90s Japan.
