This Outmode video game unfolds in an insane synth universe

Remember the game Outrun? Of course you do! The arcade and console classic is an on-rails racing game featuring some of the best Ferrari Testarossa-ripping action the mid-1980s had to offer. Now a developer is building a game with similar action, but this one cranks up the 80’s to an insane synth level that puts the aesthetics into a glorious new universe. The game is called Outmode and it’s currently available as a free demo on Steam.

The game is still in the give-me-money to help make it a reality phase, as evident by the Kickstarter link posted above. But the bones of it look excellent. I’m down with the visuals, even if it veers into a bit too much at times, as overall it’s pretty great. The plan is to create multiple game modes from multiplayer to a career mode. There will be VR support and it also sounds like the dev wants to bake in the ability to pair the game with a wheel and pedal setup if you have one.

This looks like the perfect game to fire up once you’ve been… mentally enhanced… and drive off through the lights and sounds of the Outmode universe. Check out some of the screenshots I snagged from the video above:

How many fans of Vaporwave and/or Outrun could there possibly be?

Asking for a friend. I don’t expect many Hooniverse readers under the age of 40 to know I’m referring to odd musical subcultures and not arcade video games.

looks very awesome! I myself work in a field where visual content means a lot and one day I had to create an lighthouse logo and I’m glad that I can see such logos so that new ideas come to me

It’s amazing how computer games can transport us to different worlds. And just like the game’s universe, effective translation takes players on a journey of understanding across languages.
Speaking of seamless communication, Pangea Global’s translation service https://www.pangea.global/legal-translation-services/ ensures that the essence of these captivating games isn’t lost in translation.
