The Audi SQ7: A super sleeper SUV | Review

The Audi SQ7 is a three-row luxury SUV that cranks out 500 horsepower. There’s a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 under the hood, top-flight tech inside the cabin, and tremendous noise out the back end. The Audi SQ7 starts at $84,000 and the one you see here is $99,000.

Is it worth it? Click play and find out.

[Disclaimer: Audi tossed us the keys to the SQ7 and included a tank of fuel.]

Is this the same engine as the RS6 Avant? How’s it sound compared to that, Jeff?
Not that I could afford either one (The RS6 Avant is a $25K upsell from this, yikes!), but I’d rather have the reasonable CG of the wagon in a nice sleeper.

I’m in full agreement with ya, but I think in 2020 this car is slightly more of a sleeper than the Avant, especially with the aggression of the new RS6 front and rear.

I would agree that it makes good noises. Oddly, though, I don’t think it sounds like a V8 at idle, only on throttle. I don’t know if it’s because of the relatively small displacement, valving profiles, or pipe geometry, but at idle I wouldn’t guess it a V8.
