The 2024 Ford Mustang GT is an Evolution not a Revolution

The 2024 Ford Mustang GT is a good evolution of the Mustang. But the S650 is not a game changer. It feels like an update to the 550, and that’s fine. Though it is a bit of a shame just how expensive the Mustang is now.

[Disclaimer: Ford tossed us the keys to the Mustang GT and included a tank of fuel.]

I have to disagree with you on the aesthetics. The taillights are nice, but the overall design is less integrated than before. The individual elements are OK, but don’t seem to work well as a whole. I was amused when you called it a truck given the truck like size and detailing of the grille. Oh, and the giant rectangular slab of screen replacing any interesting dash shape or detailing is very unfortunate.

I struggle to understand the ever increasing blacked out gaping maws on vehicles, including some EVs. Much of the areas are blank, allowing no air flow to imagined larger radiators needed for imagined larger, less efficient engines. Is it psychological? Egotistical? Both? Please illuminate.
    Thanks!

Occassionally, the grilles will be active (open and close on their own as needed). Somtimes they’re a design to hide electronics like radars, lasers, etc. But otherwise, yeah we are in an area of massive grilles. I think as EV options keep increasing, we will actually start to move away from this look, though.

It seems like the 2024 Ford Mustang GT represents a solid progression for the model. While the S650 may not be revolutionary and feels more like an update to the previous 550, it’s still a positive step.

It seems as though a lot of the latest front ends are employing the “asteroid impact crater” design for gaping (functional/non-functional?) openings under the headlights. I also don’t care for the “folded/spindled/mutilated” look of the tail lights! The sounds of the V-8 however, are delightful.
