Scirocco to Blow Through LeMons

$400SciroccoIf you’ve been contemplating taking a run at the 24 hours of LeMons, but haven’t come across a steed that possesses the unique balance of sub-$500 crappiness and still being passably competitive, then we may have found something to pique your curiosity.
Straight out of Long Beach comes this ’86 VW Scirocco with both the 16-valve four and a rubbery 5-speed gearbox. The seller claims that it has some damage to the nose, but hell, that’ll just scare the crap out of the competition as they see its mangled face in their rear-view mirrors. At only four benjamins you wouldn’t even have to sell off the interior to make the cut.
The Scirocco was named after a north African wind, and there is the chance that this blue ’86 might just blow, but that shouldn’t stop you from checking it out, and potentially breaking wind on the track without breaking the bank back at home.

What happens if you show up at Lemons with a net negative car? Can you part out $400 out of this heap? That would be awesome.. step 3: profit!

No, you'd spend that money going through the engine so it wouldn't explode. Maybe some decent shocks.
