Random Cool – A Renualt Clio V6 Sport

Bonjour!

We love Cars and Coffee…you know this because you hear us mention it once a week. I wanted to give you further proof as to why it’s the greatest get-together on the planet.
Before the storms came out to try and force California into the sea, our friend SVT2888 (aka Leo of CnCPics.com) captured this non-plate wearing Renault Clio V6 Sport taking in the Irvine scenery.
Some stats on the car and a two more photos after the jump
The Renault Clio V6 Sport is truly a hot hatch that was launched in 2001, as an extension of the existing Clio lineup. The Clio V6 Sport takes a 3.0L 227 hp V6 engine, shoves it into the middle of an economical hatchback – and Zut Alor, it transforms into a two-passenger monster that haunts the dreams of the GTI.

How cool is the Clio V6 Sport? Mr. Hooniverse personified, Jeremy Clarkson, says he would pop one into his fantasy garage if he was limited to 10 cars.
What is this French-fried facet of freaky fun doing in the US? I have no clue…but I do know I have a sudden desire to hug a GTI and tell it everything is going to be ok.
Au revoir you fat-assed beautiful beast

Now go away, or I shall taunt you a second time!

What's it doing in the U.S.? It has gone ass-backwards into all the hedges of Europe and is flaunting its snap-oversteeryness while seeking some new, more bouncy hedges near Hollywood.

The Clio could have been carried here by an African swallow.

Looks like a sick little ride. Is it some gray market import, non-license-able? Is he driving it to where the flatbed trailer is parked? It would be a shame to have one and only be able to take a spin on a track or go outlaw way out in the desert where there are no cops.

"The Sneaky Frenchman" sounds like something you'd learn about in a frat initiation.

I believe he drove it in from Mexico… and it was not heading to the flatbed.

"I have a sudden desire to hug a GTI and tell it everything is going to be ok." …because you've got a VR6 on a stand and a Sawzall aimed at the back seats?

Zo, mon petit zherman ami, it appears you have your engine in ze wrong place. So cliche.
      And the GTI wept.

    But how fast?

Well, it seems a bit large to be carried by one swallow. Perhaps two swallows gripped it by the husk?
However, I still am unsure of the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow, so this is a tough one.

Love it. Gives me flashbacks of another great Renault:

So do cops in CA not immediately take your car if they see you driving without plates? Because I'm pretty sure they'd do that most other places.
    Ballsy.

A lot of times people have temp. registration taped to the inside of the window.
Also, if you buy from a dealer, you don't get plates for something like 3 months. Usually right about the time you're sure something's wrong and they've forgotten about you, the show up in the mail.

i thought so too but I was told when I was in cali they have like 10 or 15 days to drive without plates..lucky bastards

The great thing about that car is that not too many people know what it is. That's just a bad ass little French Fry. It'd be retarded fun to spend a day in.

It's snowing here. That made me wonder how well this thing would handle in the snow. Which then made me start thinking about how dangerous awesome it would be to have one of these here in Michigan. For the 2 weeks it would survive the road salt.

Be sure to put super-skinny studded tires on if you plan on hoonage of this magnitude.[youtube O7bs9H1D-Q8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7bs9H1D-Q8 youtube]

Thus far it has shown it's face at Cars and Coffee for 2 weekends in a row. It still has no plates. I tried to keep track of the driver this past weekend, but I lost him. If he shows again I shall stalk him so I can hound him with questions like one of those TMZ guys.

    All renaults are rubbish!!
This car was only built because renault heard vw was making a 3l lupo, as in it did 100km on 3l of fuel. Renault took it as they were going to put a 3 litre engine in a lupo so built this to compete. french idiots
