Mystery Car

Buick Skylark

Yesterday was the first full day of Summer here in the Northern Hemisphere, this year’s solstice having taken place at 7:09 PM (EDT) on Wednesday. The Tropic of Cancer marks the declination of the Sun on the Summer solstice, as does the Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern Hemisphere to denote the furthest south where the Sun might be seen directly overhead, as it may be on the Winter solstice.

What does this all have to do with today’s Mystery Car? Well, obviously it’s a Pontiac Solstice! No, that would be too obvious. But maybe the obvious choice is the right one because who would ever expect it? Or maybe not, as that seems to infuse logic into a thought process where tradition has taught us, none exists. Or just maybe the whole Summer thing is reference to the fact that summer going to guess it right, and summer going to guess it wrong. I’ll be you didn’t see that one coming, did you?

While you’re mulling all that over, and enjoying the ability to wear white shoes and belt, let’s go over the rules, okay? Make, model, and year or year-range are required. Engine – if it’s apparent from the photo – is nice too, sort of like a winning answer apéritif. Ready, solstice sisters? Let’s go.
