Gotta say, when this photo came in on the tips hotline it caused a whirlwind of activity in everyone’s inbox and nobody managed to guess it before the tipster eventually revealed the answer. I could give you some clues but it seems like we had more fun in previous MC posts when tight-lipped Jim kept it short and simple.
On a side note, our tipster RP Piper took it upon himself to start us a Flickr pool, so when you give up on the Mystery Car, head on over there for the answer.*
*just kidding, I would’t make it that easy.
Mystery Car!

First thing I thought was Celica, but it's a bit off…

Aston Martin DB7 Vantage.
EDIT:
<img src="http://wallpapers.boolsite.net/srv36/Images/Wallpapers/Vehicules/Aston/AstonMartinDB7Vantage01.jpg"width="500"/>-
Yeah, that looks about right.
-
I'll agree……… "and circle takes the square"
-
No, look at the wheel, it must be a stock DB7.
-
you people are absurd in the most magical way…
-
Oh, and the reflection is probably an E39.

I assume you must be some kind of car savant.
-
As of now, I just have too much free time. Plus the DB7 is my favorite Aston and the E39 M5 my favorite BMW. I already started with an unfair advantage.
-
I know what you mean about the free time.

-
You really amaze me. There is no way I would have known what that was….
-
Now what's behind the BMW in RevPiper's pic?
-
Ha, that's almost impossible, I can't even tell if that's the front or rear. Anyway, E30 Cabrio maybe? Could be a R107 SL too. That's what I see, convertible with chrome.

-
This is the most amazing thing ever. I am in awe. You not only guess the car correctly right away, but you nail the reflection.
You are Hooniverse.
-
Am I doing something wrong? Why isn't this posting? Am I about to do a Jalopnik style triple post….?

In that millisecond before I came to my senses, This is what I thought of:

-
Is that a Ford Escort ZX2? Also my first thought…
-
Yeah, I cropped the pic to try to match, but that's what it is.
-
I also thought Escort ZX2.
-
-
-
I thought late 80s Celica coupe.
-
Escort and were our first guesses too, well done!
-
er Escort and *Celica* were our first choices.
-
-
That was my first guess… I tried to post it 3 times, but none of them showed up…
-
Yeah for me it takes a few seconds for the comment to appear. I think Hooniverse uses a third party commenting system. So if the "Intense Debate" servers get bogged down it effects Hooniverse as well.
-
Yup.
Depending on failure rate and free time on my end, we may ditch it for disqus, which seems to be significantly more robust. -
Wired recently ran an article comparing disqus to the new FB commenting system.

Dunno the car, but I recognize the rims.

He's just clownin' around. Hahahahaha..
-
Bogus. We all know what kind of car he really drives.
-
I'm guessing the "26" represents the IQ of the person who owns the car.

I was thinking 1st gen Neon Coupe.
Hey little buddy, you need a wheel?
<img src="http://carphotos.cardomain.com/ride_images/4/203/4521/38007260061_large.jpg">
I was between 5th gen Celica and DB7, the chrome door handles said DB7. This was the first mystery car I guessed correctly, also the first one of whose existence I already knew.
I was thinking S15 Silvia, but the door handle is wrong.
http://www.monkys.jp/e/img/SilviaS15NISMOmodified…
Yuck. It could be the rear quarter of an Olds Alero, except the Alero actually has slightly better lines, and better-looking door handles. Who actually buys these new Astons? A car the panels of which you can mistake for an Alero, Escort, or Celica should not cost six figures.
-
That was my line of thought too. I saw that curve and went "Olds Alero!". Then when it wasn't I tried to remember other round 90's, Celica and Buick Riviera. And noticed the same you did, much better door handles. The only one left was the Jag/Ford/Aston and who knows who else DB7.
My first guess was tremendously off-target, so therefore I must show it…

My first thought was Olds Aurora…
<img src = "http://images.automotive.com/reviews/images/aurora_p.jpg" width>
That was a solidly pretty car. Not just for an Olds or an American car or whatever. It was just a good-looking car, full stop.
-
god dammit what did i do maybe it was the spaces

now that you've got it, my trick is to make that image imbed line a Notebook or something document, so you can just cut and paste whenever you want to link an image.
