Mystery Car

mystery_car_01_02_13

Here we are at the outset of February. That is the calendar’s shortest month, meaning you better get jumping on solving today’s Mystery Car contest.

You know the rules – you need to come u with the make, model, year-range and likely engine to win. You all are pretty good at these so I’m sure you’ll have the answer in. . . short order.

I might have got there first but I decided to double check what engine it had.

Spyker C8 Aileron or Aileron Spyder. Audi 4.2L V8 parts code prefix: 077, identification code: ANK
C8 has been made since 2000, Aileron version since 2010.
I guess they're still in production?

My wife's minivan had trouble firing-up and it was parked in the garage over night, the big baby.

66F and clear in Austin.
Also, damn, google's weather widget search thing is much better.

A balmy -22C here.
Yesterday it was -32C.
So, progress.

Goddamn, that was insane. Good job, guys.
Here is an NSX that is for sale in town.

Only $41k!

The whole time I have lived in Austin, I have only seen maybe 4 for sale on Craigslist. This is, by far, the cleanest, stockiest, and afordabilist.

Perfect Valentines gift? Strength of marriage test? Yes and yes.

1. muthalovin Avatar

Probably more of a Saint Valentines Day Massacre. Well, no, absolutely massacre.

2. Vairship Avatar
Vairship

But what if you buy it for her as a Valentine's Day gift? Put a big red bow around it, and it'll be so romantic she can't say no.
Then, after a few weeks, make sure that the cars are parked in the "right" order in your driveway that you are "forced" to take the NSX instead of your own car every morning…

Gotta admit, this one wasn't hard. I immediately identified it as the C8, and apparently so did everybody else. Think you went with too common a vehicle on this one, everybody's seen a C8 (on here at least).

Chewie! Get your head back inside the Millennium Falcon before we make the jump to light speed next time!

3. muthalovin Avatar

It's funny, dogs really don't like it when you blow in their face, but LOVELOVELOVE to stick their heads out the window at speed.
Dogs are awesome.

1. mr. mzs zsm msz esq Avatar
mr. mzs zsm msz esq

I was thinking about that recently! I have a hunch it's because they get all the outside smells that way in car and just my putrid breath otherwise. This dog can't seem to see, but look how his nose and mouth are straight-out into the wind. I think that is what is going on.
Also I dreamed of an electric (heated) butter knife two nights back, and I still argue with my kids it's genius. They still disagree. So take my thoughts with a grain of salt. Dogs are awesome indeed, no arguing that.

1. muthalovin Avatar

Could I use this butter knife on cheese?

<img src="http://i.imgur.com/akMVcOl.png"> Brilliant, we'll need money for advertizing first! And then we go on Shark Tank!

2. faberferrum Avatar
faberferrum

That is indeed brilliant… I've long had an idea for an ice cream scoop with a heated wire running around the edge to slice through ice cream like… well like butter lol.

3. Alff Avatar

It's not the slicing, it's the spreading.
