This one may well peg the WTF meter, but it’s got a personal connection in the _Science household. Sometime in the roaring ’90s Master_Science (I think that’s what you people call my dad) went to the video rental store (remember those?) with the goal of picking something completely random. He came home with Leningrad Cowboys Go America. Mission accomplished. Written, directed and staring a bunch of Finnish weirdos, it’s a cross between Borat and The Blues Brothers, but with subtitles and better hair. Also: a giant Cadillac with a coffin on the roof. Since that 1989 “blockbuster”, the Leningrad Cowboys have gone on to produce a number of albums, music videos and other films, both short and long. But best of all, they ran a 1958 Corvette in last year’s La Carrera Panamericana! To sum up, we’re talking about a Finnish blues/rock band racing a 1958 Corvette in a vintage road rally covering the length of Mexico. The whole thing was documented by the ever talented Dirk Behlau, aka Mr Pixeleye, a German Photographer/designer who’s work we think you’ll like. Check out the trailers below.
