Last Call- Your Parking is Bad and You Should Feel Bad Edition

EB6iK

Redditor 1pennytart spotted this be-blackened Ford GT in Malibu and snapped it for the badass-ness of its appearance, and not the ass-ness of its owner’s parking job. Listen up rich people – if you don’t want to worry about your car getting dented in a public parking lot, LEAVE IT THE EFF AT HOME!

Asshat parking in a Ford GT. I'm ashamed of that driver. Also, that GT couldn't be any blacker.

Really $kay? I thought sure you were going to give him a pass. 🙂

Actually, I'd probably park the same way if I had a GT.

Sorry, $kay, but if I parked my beater next to you, you'd likely have a door ding when you returned.

When you park next to me with your beater, please be careful. ;D

I'd definitely park no more than six inches from that GT's rear quarter. Never damage other people's poorly-parked cars; let them do it themselves!

            Thank you, Fuzzy and $kay.
I was in a bad place, earlier today at work. You're right, let them damage it, and $kay, I'd NEVER damage anything you owned/drove.
Plus, I don't have a beater, anymore. My 2005 STS is still mark-free, remarkably.

Can't really blame the owner of this particular car… It's not like the doors were designed with daily driving in mind.

But once again, probably a leave it at home situation. If it were me, I would probably only drive it to places with large lots and take up two spaces at the back. The extra walk is worth taking your GT to the shops.

        "leave it at home"
        Where's the fun in that?

Not to white-knight asshat parking jobs, but due to the way the doors open with most of the roof attached to them (think of it like a gullwing door that swings out horizontally instead of vertically) on a Ford GT, that might be necessary since if he parked normally he wouldn't be able to open either door enough to get in.

I was thinking that, too, but in that case he (I am assuming the driver is a male, because no girl would ever want a GT) should have parked along the other diagonal or backed into the space.
He should have the hinge end of the door closest to the adjacent car so that the latch end has more room to swing out.

In his defense, that doesnt look like a full parking space. It appears he is parked in an end spot with a smaller half-spot next to it, and he angled in. And like others pointed out, he needs extra room for his own doors too. I can't blame the guy, I HATE how the other idiots on the road park without any care as to how close they are to the car next to them, the giant trucks that can't fit into spaces but squeeze in anyways, the clueless who slam open their doors, etc. I will not take up 2 spots, but I always park in end spots or extra large spots even if it means walking farther.

Is it just me or does it have a shiny down the middle?

    1. Preludacris Avatar

I think that's the original paint. The matte black is likely a vinyl wrap and they left a shiny racing stripe. As someone who occasionally gets to design vehicle graphics, I look for every possible opportunity to use this effect.

I'm guessing both vehicles were legitimately parked, and a drunk driver took out the rear end of the NSX, which had been parked either out of gear or with the handbrake off?

That Sienna driver is going to a very warm place when they die.

Another thing to consider is that GTs are about a mile wide. In lots with narrow spots I have trouble getting out of my XJR, not exactly a narrow vehicle, even if everyone is parked perfectly, and the the GT is almost 8" wider. So I can probably give this one a pass.
And mmmm. Flat black GT. So beautiful.

I understand the doors, and the vehicle is quite wide, however, asshat should have chosen a different area of the lot.

Given the limits of ingress/egress with those doors, I do find it forgivable to park that way. This is possibly the ONLY time I will ever say that. That paint job, on the other hand…

Leave it at home?! Leave it … AT HOME???
No, no, no, no, NO, Robert! Daily drive ALL the GTs!!!
If this was an AMG this or an M that … or some other pedestrian car then, yes, park it normally or leave it at home. Something as glorious as a GT, however … we need to encourage those lucky bastards that own them to DRIVE them. If that means that we see every Ford GT taking up two spaces when they park, SO BE IT. It's a small price to pay.
