Last Call- Too Short Edition

Whether an Easy Rider or just plain In The Wind, you wouldn’t think that being a big bearded biker would make the situation described on this gentleman’s shirt that a rare an occurrence.

Like the old saying goes……………two's company, three's a fantasy.

OT for the night- this weekend was my son's last Pinewood Derby. He'd crossed over the Boy Scouts last month… but since I'd been working on my car since January, I was not going to be denied!
Yes- my son built his car. A pre-cut car but he painted it, sanded the wheels and polished the axles. He had a good looking car.
Raceday. Both our cars were over the 5oz limit by .04. We winged it and we ended up with 4.7oz. Thru the races, my son's car kept winning heat after heat. Parents were eyeballing me thinking I'd built his car. He made the finals and it was not close. His little yellow '32 ran away from the pack. Literally… He won 1st in his Pack overall. I thought he was about to pee himself!
The dad's cars ran next and one parent who had been eyeballing me tied my car in points. My average time was .1 sec faster down the track. Another winner.
I entered a car my dad and I built 35 years ago in the sibling's heat. All I did was graphite the axles and came in second. It was dead on 5.0oz btw and was about as fast as my new car.
It was an interesting Saturday morning. My son was a very good sport- until we made it home and he got all cocky that his car was faster than mine.

Great story. I remember building mine with my Dad. Brings back good memories.

He's also two wheels short of a proper mode of transportation. Hi oh!
I kid, I kid, of course, I'm just sore that I won't be building a cafe racer anytime soon.

So this happened to the Challenger today. Argh.

Would I be out of line if I were to send an email with this photo to the general email list @ work, along the lines of "if you know how this happened – please learn how to swing your car's door without hitting other cars"?

No, I don't think you would. If they'd left an apology owning up to it, it'd be inappropriate to stay sore, but you can't not know you've opened your door that hard.

Which is why I put door edge guards on all my cars.

      Ouch! 🙁
I'm sorely tempted to buy a Challenger, but the big slab sides with no protective moldings give me pause.
Not that, of course, moldings will help with every attempted ding, as it's hard to guard against both Corollas and full-size SUV's.
