About the only vehicles upon which such a statement is possibly a lie are space stations and scientific instruments sent to other planets. Just saying.

You know, it's going to be tough going to sleep with Deep Purple rippin' through my ears.

C'MON!!!! C'MON!!!!! C'MON!!!!

Y'know if that was an OM616- or OM617-powered Benz it would be just about time to think about the first engine rebuild.
-
Yeah, and in that distance it might have just about accelerated to sixty by now.
-
Nice. I hope there is a way to rebuild it while underway, so you don't have to spend another 228 years getting back up to speed (assuming an average speed of 30 MPH).
-
No, the 616 so reliable because it has no moving parts. All a rebuild entails is sanding down the old varnish and recoating,or possibly treating with creosote or an alternative wood preservative.

Assuming this is a 1971 G van, it could have averaged 171MPH since new, and still be under 60,000,000 miles.
Having driven a G van cutaway – no. Just no.-
I got ~228.31MPH. I didn't account for leap-days though. This only works with perfectly spherical vans in a vacuum.
-
Only in vacuum? Not flash-frozen?

My son just pointed out that this has not yet made 240 million laps of the equator.
Therefore, I'd say it's fresh as a daisy.-
Although if it was doing laps of the equator, rust might be an issue.

-
oh come on people, it's in kilometers! ha
-
Barely broken in. Probably only on its second engine.
