Spent the last several weekends getting the 5.0 ready for the June HPDE at MSR. Few hundred at addressing the MT82 trans and new disks/pads/lines/fluid. New Nittos too.
Bad news – the recent rain had rivers flowing across the track on the 2 long straights. I’m still sketchy on the new car but I did go out one session to feel it out and check that I’ve done helped.
It did OK for the pace. I wasn’t comfortable in the seat with my helmet so a few pit-ins to get that right. Brakes worked perfect. Trans – seemed to give me issues a few times. Another instructor suggested the trans temps are the cause. And the clutch pedal never, ever felt good.
Taking that info I went to research. Trans cooler – pretty much a scoop to draw air to the case. Cheap and easy to install. Next would be to change the oil to another viscosity. Also read to remove the clutch helper spring. The issues the posters had are the same as I have. Something to do this weekend.
Camber bolts ordered – more mad camber coming!!

Different fluid, perhaps? I know it makes a big difference in persnickety Alfa trannys.

        That’s the next step.
There was an additive, then a viscosity change.
I hate trans oil changes. I end up tossing my shirt after them.

I’ve been trying to get the wrangler to start for two weeks now, (I’m thinking crankshaft position sensor next), so I’ve been stuck driving my trail/project Cherokee with 230000 miles and no brakes and no radio and a bad worn out suspension that’s getting replaced with a junkyard lift kit when I get the time, while my girl is driving my grand Cherokee in the mean time as that jeep is the one in the best shape, although even that needs an inner tie rod end and tune up and tow hook bracket replaced through warranty… Did I mention I drive 50 miles round trip for work a day?
