Last Call- Parking Problems Edition

Don't Park There

Parking restriction signs can normally be so severe and staid in their messaging that they almost invite disobeyment. Not this sign however, although the punishment for parking without visiting while hilarious, does seem awfully involved.

Last Call indicates the end of Hooniverse’s broadcast day. It’s meant to be an open forum for anyone and anything. Thread jacking is not only accepted, it’s encouraged.

Best Memphis story, among many, this olelongrooffan has….
Back in the day me and three buddies headed down to New Orleans from the Ozarks in an old VW Bus I had at the time. After much enjoyment was had at Mardi Gras, we were headed home. The Whizz, as in Mark Wissbaum, was driving at like three in the morning and we ended up in downtown Memphis. I awoke, startled, and Mark was going crazy as he had no idea where we were, except in trouble in a bad location. Of course, the other two dudes along for the ride were worn out and I told the Whizz to pull over and let's figure it out. Two turns later and we were back on I-55 headed back to where we needed to be.
Of course, we missed Graceland, but that is another adventure.

I still can't get over the fact that you know the Wissbaums.

Somehow this reminds me of a bar we visited, not too far from Daytona, returning from a weekend at Bike Week back in '85 or so. The sign out front said, "Visit our Hanging Japanese Gardens." In the back of the bar was an area with assorted tables and benches for drinking your beer under the shade of some gnarly old trees. Dangling from the trees were a variety of charred Japanese motorcycles hanging from chains. Times were different then. I was glad I was riding an old Triumph.

    OT:
Just watched The Crow again. Good stuff. Amazing how well it holds up for a 20-year-old movie.
I tried to watch Highlander last weekend and had to turn it off. It was a lot better in 1986.

I think my favourite part of this sign is the name of the establishment. Slider Inn. Well ma'am, I don't mind if I do.
