Lamborghini Urus: Excellent Excess in XL Size

The 2021 Lamborghini Urus is ridiculous… but that’s what it should be. An oversized go-anywhere Lamborghini with room for friends and family. And its very existence means Lamborghini can continue building more insane-o-mobiles while the Urus prints money for the brand.

[Disclaimer: Lamborghini tossed us the keys to the Urus and included a full tank of benzina.]

I’ve seen these in person a handful of times, one time this past weekend while running in Scottsdale.

Fugly, but a proper statement when you have F*ck You money.

Agreed, but compared to a more standard Lambo, these leave a surprisingly mild impression. Non-car people are not guaranteed to even notice these.

It’s like that with fashion, too. If you want to really show off your wealth, buy really ugly clothes, wear them once, and see how many of your social media followers try to imitate you.

An Urus regularly turned up at my parking garage at work until a couple of months ago when a Bentayga took its place, so I assume it’s the same owner. We haven’t met.

I suppose the owner has a “Racing VAG” and a “Sleeping VAG” and alternates vehicles according to the purpose at hand.

It might be of benefit for him to tow one with the other, to keep a supply of spare parts on hand, though I don’t think many items are interchangeable.

By the way, I like how the Bentley and the Benz are both practicing “socially-distant” parking–each leaving at least three feet between your car and theirs by staying far back from the adjacent white line, so that they don’t inadvertently infect you with pretentiousness.

No matter what they drive, people tend to be thoughtful like that wherever I park; it renews my faith in humanity.

I just got out of a Urus after spending a long weekend up in the Catskills hooning it about. Amazing vehicle. Review coming soon!

Haha, great to have you inspired. The seats have a pattern that reminds me of camping/sleeping mats. That’s…kind of cool.
