Jay Leno's Garage does the Speedkore Tantrum – a '70 Charger with a heart of gold

If you’re not already subscribed to Jay Leno’s Garage on YouTube, you really should be. One of the biggest car enthusiasts in the showbiz uses his star power to bring some amazing machines into the spotlight every week. He’ll either have a new car from a manufacturer to test, a gem from his wonderful collection to go in depth on, or – as is the case with this – a car built through private means that defies convention. And sometimes other weird stuff too. This week, Jay Leno brought in SpeedKore Performance and their 1970 Dodge Charger Tantrum. It’s really just a Charger by looks after what they’ve done to it. It’s a one-off beast that was built from the ground up to be unlike anything else on the road – so much so that it doesn’t even use a conventional road-going engine at all. It uses a freakin’ Offshore racing engine provided by Mercury Marine; nine liters, two turbochargers, and up to 1,650 horsepower. You could say they’ve gone a bit overboard but the end result is just too awesome to not appreciate. Check out the video above for an in-depth look at one of the wildest creations on the Web as told by the guys that built it. It’s love at first burnout. [Source: Jay Leno’s Garage, YouTube]
