ICON Reformer Project: The New Aston Martin DB4 GT Volante

From ICON, the maker of some awesome 4X4s:

Back in 1960, Aston Martin wanted to put the hurtin’ on Ferrari with their new DB4 GT, so they went to the masters at Zagato to have a lighter weight body designed and built. The chief of the transportation department at the time was Ercole Spada. Mr. Spada is considered one of the greatest transportation designers of all time. The original DB4GT Zagato was a coupe, and they only built eighteen of them. ICON is teaming with Mr. Spada to create the convertible version history never saw built back in the 1960’s, infused with modern mechanical elements including an AM V12 and a custom Art Morrison chassis. We are honored to work with Mr. Spada and his son, Paolo Spada at Spadaconcept in Turin, Italy, to realize this automotive ICON! More details soon…consider this a tease!

Chew on that for a bit.

It is our understanding that they are going to build them from scratch. Judging by their other vehicles this is going to be something really special. Modern Aston V12 and chassis wrapped an amazing body with an old-school interior that has been tastefully modernized.

I have a dollar and now I have a dream, I’m off to buy a lottery ticket. If you want to know more about the original Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, wiki has some answers. In the mean time check out Jeff’s review of the 2012 Aston Martin Virage Volante and the 2011 Aston Martin Rapide.
