Jason Fenske explains a supercharger

How to supercharge a Mazda Miata

Step 1 is to be friends with the Humble Mechanic. Step 2 is to buy a used Mazda MX-5 Miata. Step 3 is to slap an Edelbrock supercharger. And finally, Step 4 is to drive the crap out of the thing once you get it down off the lift.

Friend of Hooniverse Jason Fenske bought a 2016 Mazda MX-5. He then sought out more power and he’s finding it through forced induction. This kit should bring his lovely ND up to an output of 200 horsepower at the wheels, which is plenty for fun times in a Miata. How’s the process to install the supercharger? Thanks to crystal clear instructions it seems to be not that difficult at all. Though having the Humble Mechanic on hand is certainly quite helpful.

Except when, around the 4:25 mark, he does his best impression of a shitty service advisor. It’s too real Charles!

Jason does an excellent job of explaining the hows and whys of the supercharger. Charles does a wonderful job of explaining how to handle the install, maintenance ideas, and all other aspects of the wrenching side of this video. In the end, the pair discuss the overall quality of the kit and its level of difficulty to install.

Next up for the car? Dyno and acceleration runs to see just how much the kit improves performance.
