Having seen the earlier truck bad-assery here, I decided to wander around the innert00bz and see what else I could dig up.
Immediately, I thought of Boyce Equipment in Ogden, Utah. They have been buying, restoring and modding these ex-military beasties for over 40 years.
Looking for military spec full size in good shape?
They got ’em. And if heavy duty Chevy’s aren’t your style, they also have M715’s.
Need something bigger to haul around all your guns and survival gear? How about a deuce and a half?
There is literally nothing these guys can’t do if you can dream it up. One of my personal favorites is this bobbed M35.
In addition to selling turn-key trucks to start your own army, they also sell all the parts needed to build your own monster.
Elsewhere around the webz, I found this beastie on Engineerd’s Facebook page and nearly excreted a block of ceramic masonry material.
This M813 has been completely gone through and has been outfitted with $7200 worth of brand new bone-crushing Michellin XZL Tires. My initial thought was to strip down a fifth wheel, mount it cab-over style, paint it to match and call it home. Find it on craigslist for $13000.
Lastly, we have this lil’ guy:
The only thing missing is the hedge trimmer that goes in the mount above the cab. Find this one on eBay with bidding currently around $13k and no reserve.
Hooniverse Truck Thursday – Surviving the Zombiepocalypse

Well between the CUCV blazer of a previous post and that M715 I am plum torn.
-
Maybe I'll feel dumb for asking, but what the hell, here goes:
Can you buy these, register and plate them, and drive on public roads?-
Yes. I know that in NC you can.
-
Legal in Kansas too.

A buddy of mine had an M35A2, plated as a Jeep 1 ton truck. The ladies at the Arizona DMV knew what they were doing, they fell in love with the truck and gave him their blessing.

I'll take the Chevrolet M-1028 1984 1.5 Ton Maintenance Truck:

Cause nothing prepares you for zombies better than portable welding capabilities (except perhaps portable air compression, which this also has). At least, that would be transport of choice until I can mock up one of these more unconventional zombie mowers:

Little known fact: Zombies are easily distracted by bacon, a more humane and tasty solution.
-
Uh-uh. I'm NOT doing that again….
Thought ya had me, didn'tcha? -
This family must have had bacon in their luggage…

Hi, you! Here we have the more rare M35 Camper Special.

Well this Zombie wants a deuce and a half…
Bet you didn't see THAT coming. -
And more surplus trucks: http://www.100dollarman.com/trucks.html

I'll take the bobbed one. I think that rubber is worth more than my whole Jeep…
-
This thread poses a timeless question: M715 or bobbed deuce? Both get around 10mpg. One weighs around 5000 lbs., the other twice that. One will cost a fortune when you need to replace the rubber, the other will cost two fortunes. One is about as manly as trucks get, the other one super girly.

Found this old war horse fading away near Beattyville,Kentucky. Had a nest full of Hornets under the hood and a Copperhead in the cab.

I may have shared this one already, but seems appropriate to post again.

Did someone say Kaiser M715? This one is on the GSA Auctions site sitting at $775 with less than a day to go.

Is it wrong that I want to build a bucket-T around a 6.2L Detroit diesel?
<img src="http://www.boyceequipment.com/images/6-2_engine_650x550.jpg" width="500">-
Use the rest of the CUCV running gear to make it an all-terrain T and you'd be a real cool dude.

Hey, nice post, Mr. Schmo! Right up my alley. I used to go drool at Boyce every so often when I lived up there. Here's another great place in Utah for those who like Big Green Trucks. http://www.jtomlin.com/
The guy is something else. For the fiftieth anniversary of D-Day, he drove a DUKW Duck across the English Channel. He used to have one on his yard near Tooele, and a whole bunch of other neat stuff, including a tank or two. That was awhile ago, but I'll bet the place is still worth a visit.
