This olelongrooffan has not been much of a link connector here in the Hooniverse. As I said in my virgin post I tend to be more personal experience related in my posts. Having said that,
my daily driver laptop has been in the Ormond Garage since last Friday getting a much needed tune up. I am reluctant to load images on my borrowed netbook, yeah, a netbook, a Micro Machine, if you will, so small that this olelongrooffan’s fingers have to do double duty just to avoid many of my naturally occurring typos. However, I have figured out a way to steal some of my posts from my personal blog and load images on the E drive of this Micro Machine. So in an effort to feed my ego contribute my fair share for my fellow Hoons, I am offering this for one of my Hooniverse Truck Thursday offerings.
The above short bus caught the attention of this olelongrooffan as my older brother, who my family calls “the Bus” has in his possession a very similar Bus but my brother’s is a dually!
Yes, my older brother rides the Short Bus! My Mom, (Happy Mother’s Day BTW), loved to ride the short bus pretty much any time the Bus would take her around on it. And trust me, it was a lot of times. A bunch of my family, instead of taking several Cherokee’s and Accord’s to her internment back in 2008, took the Bus’s short bus and saved a whole lot of drive time by several drivers.
Early in my blogging life, I shamelessly stole this link from Jesse without giving proper credit to him. I was properly reprimanded and that mistake that has not been made again by this olelongrooffan.
I thought this site had enough Hoonilustworthy offerings that it needed to be shared with my fellow Hoons. Even if all their stuff is a continent away from this olelongrooffan.

Weird. I was up late watching videos of buses to hear the engine sounds (what!?!?) and ran across this gem. The audio kinda sucks, but I do like the dude's style.

Thanks, did you ever hear about how I got in trouble for trying to disassemble the high school bus I rode? Hope not, basically I was upset with having to ride the bus to high school. I grabbed some of my dad's tools. Then every morning on the way into school I would remove fasteners. I started from the back and worked my way up. Then I would bring in the parts and stash them in my locker. Eventually some kids ratted me out. I had the tools on me. School officials opened my locker. But back then things were not so bad. I think adults still realized that kids were kids and did not think things through. So I spent Saturdays cleaning buses for the district. My track/cross-country coach and physics/chemistry teacher (small rural district) was also a bus driver. She'd pick me up and drop me off. I told my parents that it was running practice. Only last year did I finally tell my parents at a BBQ the truth 🙂

Aaah, Buses, the private, secret fetish I rarely mention (out loud) but, hey, I'm among friends here, this can be my coming out post.
I can imagine that, one day, when I own a dozen or more acres than the zero I have right now, I'll have a go at collecting some of the buses I remember as a kid. I can relate to ZR above, I can still remember the sound of each of them;-
The Bristol VRT with its Gardner 6HLXB engine, the Daimler Fleetline with its Leyland 680, the Mercedes 0.303 with its OM422 V8, Ah, sweet memories.
And an honourable mention to the Gillig Phantom I remember from my first trip to FLA, with its noisy droning Detroit 6V92. -
I used to hoon the hell out of the buses they gave me to drive back when I was in the National Guard. Sometimes, they'd lay on a bus to go to the range or whatever, when we really needed a Deuce and a Half. No worries, I'd spank those big Bluebird buses loaded with sixty troops and their weapons up and down the dirt roads of Camp Williams, UT in all kinds of conditions. Big buses are big fun.
