Hooniverse Malaise Era Low Mileage Weekend Edition – A 1978 Dodge Power Wagon with 16,700 Miles

During this Malaise Era Weekend we covered this Triumph TR6, this BMW 2002tii, this 1973 Buick Apollo, this Jaguar XK-E, this Autobianchi Abarth A112, this 1972 Chevy Caprice, this 1973 Ford Thunderbird, this 1976 Ford LTD Landau, this 1979 Dodge Magnum, this 1979 MG Midget, and this 1975 Oldsmobile 442. We have yet to uncover a low mileage truck, until now. This is a 1978 Dodge Power Wagon Utility Truck that was once used by the Military, then pressed into service for a local Volunteer Fire Department in Alabama.

This is one bad ass Dodge Power Wagon, and it is about as stripped as one could get in any motor vehicle. Yes, it only has 16,000 or so miles, but they were well used miles. Take a look at the inside of this truck… I noticed that there is no heater controls, and obviously there is no radio in the cab. The green vinyl interior is a sure sign that this truck was Military Issue.

According to the listing:

THIS IS A DODGE W200 SERVICE BODY TRUCK THIS TRUCK HAS 1 TON SPRINGS IN IT AS WELL AS DANA 60 AXLE’S FRONT AND REAR THIS WAS A MILITARY SERVICE TRUCK THEN WAS USED BY A V.F.D IN ALABAMA IT HAS VERY LOW MILES ON IT IT IS ROCK SOLID NO RUST OR ROT ANYWHERE THE SERVICE BODY IS MADE BY STULL AND ITS AS SOLID AS THE REST OF THE TRUCK IT HAS A 318CI WITH A 2BBL CARB IT ALSO HAS A 727 AUTO TRANS AND FULL TIME 4WD TRANSFER CASE THE TRUCK RUNS AND DRIVES GOOD IT DOES NEED ALIGNMENT THE STEERING WHEEL IS A LITTLE CROOKED AND IT MIGHT NEED THE BRAKES LOOKED AT BUT EVERY THING ON THIS TRUCK WORKS HEATER,WIPERS, LIGHTS ETC ETC

By the way, the service body is made by a company named Stahl. With a little over two days left until the auction closes, the current top bid puts this truck into the afordable category at $1,575, with an unmet reserve. I hope the seller isn’t holding out for any real money because this truck will need a world of manitenance to get it back into some semblance of shape. See the listing here, and tell me if this isn’t one bitchin’ truck…
