Hooniverse Classic Captions – The 1980 Jeep Cherokee Edition

While it isn’t Monday, it is Wagon Wednesday, and it’s time for a special Wagon Wednesday version of the Hooniverse Classic Caption Contest. To review, I search for images that were used by the car companies in their advertising or brochures, and it is your job to provide a well thought out (or not) humorous caption that is tied in with the image. This week you are all playing for another Volvo Trucks Baseball Cap that I received some time ago ago. So this would be a great time for you all to participate in our little game.

Last weeks image was of a Little Red Corvette and most comments were very funny and well thought out. An example of this is from our good friend smalleyxb122, who submitted this winning caption: “Naively, Geoffrey answered her question with a confident “I am the little man in the boat.””

Congratulations smalleyxb122. E-mail me on where to send your prize.

It’s now time to take a look at this weeks illustration. It is a Advertising image for the 1980 Jeep Cherokee featuring a lovely young couple enjoying the outdoors on what looks like a lake in Europe. This doesn’t look to have any kind of a happy ending because a rather large Mute Swan is also enjoying lunch. So what do you think the outcome of this encounter will be in the very near future? (Anyone who has been anywhere close to these things will tell you that they have a rather nasty attitude) Why would AMC even bother to do a photo session in Europe anyway? Only you can answer these and any other question. (You can click here to see the full size image)

You have the next five days to come up with a great caption. The editors will deliberate the merits of each entry, with the best one awarded this weeks prize. So show us what you got.
