Yesterday, I sent out a tweet aimed at Honda. The UK extension of the automaker has built a new version of its motorcycle-powered Mean Mover. This is V2, and it’s packing the 999-cc engine from a CBR1000RR Fireblade. That mean it has 189 horsepower and this is a mower with a top speed of 150 mph. I told Honda that the thing needed to hit the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place this weekend.
Today, the above video appeared. Clearly, some folks at Honda UK and I think alike.
Now I’m left wondering what’s the most unique vehicle ever to make a run up the hill? This mower will surely sit on that list. But what else has made the run up the hill and left you confused and delighted?

For me, one of the highlights has to be the 1905 Daracq, if 200bhp in 1905 was incongruous enough, it was brilliant to see an over 100 year old car of historical significance driven with the commitment of a drift missile.

Has to be. Can only be. Watching it scorching towards you, six-foot flames leaping from the open headers and singeing the haybales as it passes, and listening to a soundtrack like a fully amped drumkit tumbling down a flight of stairs.

The year I went Jesse James ran his trophy truck up the hill, kept going at the top into the rally stage up there, and then jumped out of a banked corner onto the 4×4 hillside and hit all the obstacles on the way down. That was definitely a bit different.

The whole event really deserves bucket list status. We had the 3 full days there and I think did get to see ‘everything’ as in all the cars run, the hill top to bottom, the paddocks and displays etc, but could have spent a lot more time on many areas.
Too bad it is on the other side of the world.

Perhaps not the most unique vehicle, but I love this video of a 1959 Thunderbird on the track at Goodwood being driven at 10/10ths. You can’t help but smile watching him wring every last bit of performance out of it.
