Maximum Overdrive

Some things just naturally go together – peas and carrots, dogs and fleas, Hooniverse and Hoons. And to that list you can add AC/DC and movies about mysteriously animated and murderously intended machinery. Maximum Overdrive is just such a movie, and the Aussie rockers just happened to provide the soundtrack to the Stephen King directed effort.

I remember seeing the trailer for this movie – King, all pasty and crazy-eyed, looking straight into the camera and stating that he was going to scare the hell out of you. Well, Maximum Overdrive is more hilarious than horrific, but there’s still a bunch of great scenes which this video compiles, and after all how doesn’t like Hells Bells?

The movie was based on a King short story called Trucks and you can ask yourself what the truck was he thinking after the jump.

There was a another movie based off the short story called "Trucks".
Didn't have ACDC but it did star Tim Busfield who attended my alma mater. He was my school's big claim to fame. He didn't graduate, just attended a semester or 2. He was superseded by Kenny Chesney who graduated from ETSU in the early 90's.
Mike Smith, coach for the losing Falcons, played football for ETSU in the 70's.

"he was going to scare the hell out of you."
He did, when I saw this for the first time. I was no more than 8.

The thing I remember most about that movie was Yeardly Lisa Simpson Smith's constant and annoying screaming.

I didn't know ac/dc song was in that movie. I do like that reference to dogs and fleas. Because that can be pretty tough to get rid of fleas in your house. 😛
