Found on Ebay: Seven Deadly Sins Edition

Lust be thy sin

Deuteronomy 5:21 ‘You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, and you shall not desire your neighbor’s house, his field or his male servant or his female servant, his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.’
But what if your neighbor owns an original 7?

Luckily enough, I don’t have any neighbors with the aformentioned 7, so I’m safe in that regard.  I’m pretty sure it doesn’t say anywhere “don’t covet that Lotus 7 you found on Ebay” though.
Definately no Sloth

What we have here is an all-original, 1971 “7” with only 49,000 miles on the clock.  Somewhat shunned by purists, the Series 4 (S4) model was not as popular as the previous models, and sold less than previous generations.  Only about 800 were produced from 1970-73.
Scars add character

Seller claims everything on the car is in great shape, save for a few blemishes here and there.  Comes with the original factory soft top and all 5 factory alloys.
Head over to Ebay and get your sin on!  Current bid is $17,000.

The good news is, since it's a series 4, there is, as the kids say "Nothing to Covet Here".

    hmmm… commuter duty…

    1. engineerd Avatar

If I had a Seven or a Se7en, i would so commute in it. Why let it sit there doing nothing waiting for a track day when it can make a routine, dull commute more special?

until you pass an 18-wheeler. then you will realize the lugnuts are at your eye level and you car might as well be reinforced with twigs.
lotus sev[7]en = track / empty roads only

17 grand for a used Camry or a used 7 to commute in… Yep, that's a no-brainer. They get about the same mileage and you have the added benefit of under-trailer lane changes.

Perfect if you have a home office.

But only if you can blast "The Prisoner" theme while driving into work.

I would counter your quotation of scripture with, "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Colin Chapman." (John 1:17, Hooniversal Standard Translation).

Can we get this on a T-Shirt?

      1. Ambersand Avatar

        Good idea!

        1. Jo_Schmo Avatar

It would need to say "Engineerd 7:??" though

          1. Ambersand Avatar

            Engineerd 7:77 of course!

      2. engineerd Avatar

That would be a kickass t-shirt that I would wear daily.

      thirdededed!

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good…

      1. BrianTheHoon Avatar

Or maybe, "And God said, 'Let there be light," and there was light, and then Lucas got involved and God said, 'Nothing good can come of this.' "

        1. Alff Avatar

… so THAT's how he came to be known as the Prince of Darkness.

It is a series 4 so that makes it a "real" Lotus. But it is also ugly. If you have ever seen one of these in person you know just how horrendous they look. It has so much fiberglass and is so ugly it looks like there should be a flat 4 hiding in the back of it. Better off getting one of the good clones instead.

    1. Clashtastic Avatar

agreed. get a good clone, that way you don't feel bad driving it, it looks better, and no one will get mad at you for dropping any variety of LSx into it…
      although I'd go 5.0 Cammer
      but still

    2. soo΄pәr-bādd75 Avatar

Fiberglass be damned, there's something to be said about owning an original.

    the devil be there!!!

  6. dmilligan Avatar

If I had it I'd like to make the acceleration a bit snappier, but how am I supposed to stuff a SBC in that thing? Some cars just aren't made to be hooned.

    1. Mike_the_Dog Avatar

Some cars really don't need an SBC. As Clashtastic said, if you want to go that route, a modern Se7en is probably a better choice.

    2. Alff Avatar

      You're missing the point.

  7. soo΄pәr-bādd75 Avatar

Hey, uh, does anyone have $17,001 that I can borrow?

  8. Maymar Avatar

I would've thought this'd circumvent the seven deadly sins – one driving this certainly isn't a victim of greed, gluttony, or sloth. It's not all macho and angry, so wrath is pretty safe. But then I remembered the lust. Oh, how I remembered the lust.

Well, as one wag said, If Jesus died for our signs, dare we make his death meaningless by not committing them?

  11. Tripl3fast Avatar

Wait, left hand drive? I'm confused.

    1. Mike_the_Dog Avatar

If it was built for export to the US or the Continent, it would probably be LHD.
