formula supra build gets a custom rear subframe

Formula Supra: A custom subframe, Ford parts, and computer scanning

Progress continues on Ryan Tuerck’s Formula Supra project car. The hacked-up Toyota now has a custom rear subframe. It’s going to use an 8.8″ rear differential that was plucked out of an old Ford Explorer. Of course, that locking bit gets cleaned up before being bolted into the rear subframe. The team also take the Judd V10 engine over to Papadakis Racing for some precise measurements. This engine obviously needs custom parts to bolt up to the car and the transmission. And the race shop has the tool to make sure everything is measured in an exacting manner.

This Toyota Supra build is moving along nicely. It shouldn’t be that much longer until this Judd V10 gets to sing its amazing high-revving song. Stay tuned for more.

happy to see all this technology becoming accessible to smaller shops like this, and it’s pretty significant that they’re starting to use it. it’s one thing to use CMMs and Inconel printing for a fighter jet or rocket engine being built on a billion-dollar budget, but this is orders of magnitude less expensive of a product. the trickle down is beginning.
