First Drive: 2019 Audi E-Tron

Audi has entered the electric vehicle fray. Say hello to the 2019 Audi E-tron. This is the German automaker’s first fully electric machine and it’s a surprisingly good starting point for four-ringed electrification. It does make you ask a question though; do you prefer maximum range or fast charging speeds?

Check out the video above for our first drive review. If you want more written bits, my story will be over on Jalopnik.

[Disclaimer: Audi flew me to San Francisco then shuttled me to Napa in the back of an E-Tron. I was given food, booze, and a flight back home after driving to Tahoe.]

I never understood why people (especially americans), think that Audi is just another brand of VW. It isn’t. Audi is the ruler of Volkswagen and hence the german industry. The german version of the Iron Bank of Braavos. Personally I don’t like Audis very much. But I admit that it was Audi that forced all those hipsters/investors to bow down to the rules and keep the industry alive. There will be no rust belt in Germany as long as Audi is in control.

    P.S:
Porsche was last one to fight Audi. And lost. Since then nobody has risked it.
Of course I don’t know if this E-Tron car will succeed. But it will set the standard.
