I’m too fat to race karts… I know this. I need to weigh, um, significantly less than I do now. Still, that doesn’t mean I can’t own one and have an absolutely insane-o, awesome, ridiculous time out on a kart track. I’ll just have to be content watching 12-year-olds blowing by me. I think I’ll be okay with that. So my Fantasy Find for this Friday is this 2013 Rotax shifter kart that’s complete and ready to go. I found a different kart earlier, but I reached out to some friends in the know when it comes to this stuff. One person in particular responded quickly, and I trust his insight. Thanks Tim Stevens. If you don’t know that name, he is the former man in charge at Engadget, and he wrote a great series on Autoblog highlighting his descent into karting awesomeness. Now you can find him at CNET when he’s not busy prepping his bike for track duty or racing a Subaru on snow and ice. Back to the kart though… This particular unit has a chassis that’s pretty much brand new and a 125cc motor with less than ten hours of running time. It’s sorted, it’s fresh, and it’s being offered with a Buy-It-Now of $6,000. I have no idea if that’s a good price or not, but this is Fantasy Friday so who cares. I do know that it would bring me insane joy to drive this thing, and that’s a great deal at $6,000.
