Classic Captions – The 1978 Lincoln Continental Town Car Edition

14756244838_88d4045600_b Welcome to the Hooniverse Classic Captions Post, and it’s that time of the week in which this feature appears, so let’s review the premise; I search for images that were used by the car companies in their print advertising or brochures, and it is your job to provide a humorous caption that is some how tied in with the image. This week we take a look at a Lincoln Town Car in a setting that is void of anything interesting… 1987-Ninja250-Ad Last time, we had an image of a Motorcycle at a local diner, and the participation rate was nothing to write home about, but hope springs eternal… It was rather difficult to score a winner and a runner-up this week, as the top vote receivers were all commenting on the Rock Store Diner that was used as a backdrop for the Ninja Ad. As such, I am going to try and award both a winner and a runner-up from comments other than the ones dealing with this location. So, the runner-up belonged to Batshitbox (Yes, again!) and it went like this: “In a near total reversal of typical plot lines, Starfleet Chief Engineer Apex Hunter makes first contact with a planet full of male models..” Very funny, but there was one caption that was just a bit better… And the winning comment was from mkep819, and his caption went like this: “Boy Bands & Bikes never quite caught on as big as Cars & Coffee.” To everyone who participated, this was my personal favorite this week, so congratulations mkep819 on winning this edition of the Hooniverse Classic Captions Contest… It’s now time to take a look at this weeks entry, and I reached back into the toy box that is Alden Jewell’s Flickr Account, and retrieved this Lincoln Continental Town Car image from 1978. The setting is very puzzling, but I will try and describe it. I think the photographer was trying to portray a group of people leaving a theater, but the actual setting looks like a business park, or an incomplete shopping center. As far as the people, they seemed to be dressed for all occasions… So let’s try and see what they are dressed for (I’ll leave that up to you). There also seems to be only one car for all of these people, and I’m sure that as big as this Lincoln is, you’re not going to get that many people inside of it. So what do you think the vision of this Photo Shoot was, and isit really a good image to use to highlight the Town Car? (You can click here to see the full size image) You have the next five days to come up with a great caption. The editors will deliberate on the merits of each entry, and after contemplating our own caption (I wonder where all the other cars are…), we will pronounce a winner. So, get to work and create you’re own caption for this interesting image. Photo Credit: Alden Jewell’s Flickr Photostream
