Because it's Monday: Let's Watch Some Air-Cooled Vee-Dubs Rally in The Snow

The best car for driving in the snow is one that puts the weight of the engine over the driving wheels. The worst car for driving on slippery surfaces is one whose major weight is outside of the wheelbase, and hence serves the undesirable role of pendulum.
Here we see Volkswagens—which maintain both behaviors—participating in the inaugural Rengon JM-putki Rally held exclusively for air-cooled VWs last week near Hämeenlinna in Finland, and it looks like it was a ball. Okay, it looks like it was a snowball. Happy now?

You should see old VW buses do it! Go to YouTube and search “Shasta Snow Trip”.

Good for traction, not so good for steering or braking while facing forwards…
On the other hand you don’t need to use the handbrake, from my experience on a wet skidpan that gives you way too much rotation!
