American As Tweedy Pie – The Big Daddy Roth T-Bucket Is For Sale

The Mecum Auction typically gets a range of quality but fairly standard muscle cars and classics. Occasionally an interesting movie car will pop up as well. The upcoming auction in Monterey (August 13-14) has quite a character-of-a-car crossing the block. Pull out your checkbook and put on your Vans and Wayfarers to take a crack at a California Kustom Klassic. The 1923 Ford T-Bucket known as Tweedy Pie is heading to Northern California to rumble across the stage. Tweedy Pie is famous for being the hot rod model car poster child back in the 1960’s thanks to Revell. Itappeared on the 1959 cover of Rodding and Restyling as well as the 1962 cover of Rod and Custom. The Tweedy Pie was pinstriped by famed cartoonist and custom car builder Ed “Big Daddy” Roth, who is best known for his Rat Fink character. This T-Bucket is powered by a Corvette V8 engine featuring six stromberg 97 carbs and an Offy manifold. Hot Rods are not my cup of tea…but this one has serious history and would be a welcome addition to any garage. [Source: Mecum, VSRNOnline]
