hooniverse news whats your naws

What’s your news for the week?

The news boy is on the road today and there wasn’t a whole lot of interesting car news stuff this week. So I’m opening up the coveted Friday at 1PM time slot to you once more. If you saw something, broke everything, or otherwise did anything even remotely car related (or not) that you want to share with your fellow hoon, sound off in the comments. And if you’re bored and want to help figure out what vehicle backed into my truck the other night without leaving a note, that’d be cool too 🙂

Have a good weekend.

It was a productive weekend, last weekend. My good friend Tim from Indiana was in town, and we accomplished several things in the garage. First, we replaces the leaky left output seal of the rear diff on the X3. It had been seeping for awhile, and needed to be buttoned up. Second, we did a brake fluid flush and removed the clutch delay valve on the e91, as well as replace all the air filters on the car. Everything seems to be running well now, so now it’s just wait until the next thing breaks! 🙂

Doing some moderately spirited driving in the Boxster this week revealed that it really dances in mid corner bumps. Definitely need to get struts ordered. Good news is that Pelican Parts has Konis 20% off right now. Bad news is that they are still about $700 for all four.

Turns out they’re on sale everywhere and I found them for $684, total, at eEuroparts.com. $700 at Pelican was going to be almost $800 with shipping & tax.

I got the 1983 Honda CM250C running for the first time in two decades. I got lucky and it started and ran on the first try with only a minor carb adjustment. Best guess is when I tried rebuilding the carb in 2004 or so I got the jets mixed up or missed some crud. It still needs a new battery, a new horn and tires made in this century but at 60 mpg and the prospect of my wife riding again it’s worth it.

I want to tell you about my new car rental experience. I had only heard about this service before, but I had never used it. But when I was in Portugal, I couldn’t help but rent a car in Faro to drive around the neighborhood and admire the beauty that surrounded me there. That’s why I turned to the rental24.co.uk service and was delighted that renting is so easy
