Hey look, it’s another Weekend Edition here at the Hooniverse, and I thought this freak show would be a great place to start the weekend off right. I have to caution you though because by the time this post goes live, there will be only a couple of hours left for you to bid on what is possibly the craziest “Power Wagon” ever. Make the jump, and discover all the wonders of cross breeding a Tradesman Van with a Power Wagon…

The eBay listing is all in caps, so it’s no me that is YELLING AT YOU…

THIS AUCTION IS FOR A TOTALLY BADASS 1973 DODGE POWER WAGON 4X4. IT HAS 84,441 MILES AND RUNS GREAT. I WILL DO MY BEST TO LIST ALL THE FEATURES AS WELL AS THE DEFECTS. THE VAN HAS A BRAND NEW INTERIOR WITH WOOD PANELING ON THE WALLS AND CEILING AND GRAY CARPET ON THE FLOOR. IT HAS A BRAND NEW ROOF VENT. WE HAD THE 2 FRONT CABIN SEATS REUPHOLSTERED IN A DARK GREY CLOTH WITH BLACK VINYL FOLDING ARMRESTS. WE INSTALLED A BRAND NEW WINDSHIELD AND ALL OTHER GLASS IS GOOD EXCEPT THE RIGHT MIDDLE WINDOW WHICH IS TAPED UP. THIS WINDOW SHOULD BE VERY EASY AND CHEAP TO REPLACE.

THE TIRES ARE 33 X 12.5 X R15 AND ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH A LOT OF TREAD. I HAD A LINE ON A SET OF 35’S WITH GREAT RUBBER FOR $200 SO IF YOU ARE INTERESTED AND THEY ARE STILL AVAILABLE WE CAN WORK SOMETHING OUT. THEY WILL TOTALLY FIT AND IT LOOKS PRETTY RAD WITH THE EXTRA 2″ LIFT. THERE IS NO SPARE TIRE INCLUDED WITH THIS VEHICLE. IT HAS A CUSTOM 8″ LIFT AND HANDLES REALLY WELL. THE WHEELS ARE 15″ EAGLE ALLOYS AND ARE IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. THE VEHICLE HAS A TOW HITCH AND REAR LADDER. IT HAS DUAL EXHAUST AND SOUNDS REALLY GOOD. THE VAN HAS TWO FUEL TANKS WITH A SWITCH DOWN BY THE DRIVERS SEAT FOR THOSE REALLY LONG TRIPS. IT HAS STEEL HORSE SIDE-STEPS FOR BOTH THE DRIVER’S AND PASSENGER DOORS. THE VAN HAS A GT GRANT STEERING WHEEL. THERE IS NO RADIO INSTALLED BUT WE CAN THROW IN A LATE MODEL CD / STEREO. IT HAS A CUSTOM FRONT BUMPER / BRUSH GUARD WITH A WENCH AND KC LIGHTS AND A CUSTOM CHROME GRILLE. BOTH THE WENCH AND KC LIGHTS ARE IN WORKING CONDITION BUT THE WENCH NEEDS A BATTERY AND REMOTE AND THE KC LIGHTS NEED TO BE WIRED IN ( EVERYTHING IS THERE ).

THE ENGINE IS A 360 CID / V8. IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. WE INSTALLED A NEW BATTERY AND HAD A BASIC SERVICE DONE ( OIL AND FILTER CHANGES, BRAKES, AND FLUIDS ) THIS THING RUNS GREAT AND IS SUPER FUN TO DRIVE. THE FEW MINOR ISSUES I FOUND WITH IT ARE THE RIGHT MIDDLE WINDOW LIKE I MENTIONED, SMALL CRACK IN LEFT BRAKELIGHT, THE REAR DOOR LOCK IS MISSING, AND AS OF RIGHT NOW THE DRIVERS DOOR ONLY OPENS FROM THE INSIDE. THIS ONLY STARTED A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO SO I DON’T THINK ITS ANYTHING MAJOR. MAYBE A CLIP RATTLED LOOSE OR SOMETHING. IT DOES HAVE SOME RUST. MOSTLY SURFACE THROUGHOUT BUT SOME BAD SPOTS ON THE ROOF. WHEN WE WERE THINKING OF GOING FULL RESTO WITH THIS THING WE WERE GONNA HAVE THE ROOF CUT AND INSTALL ONE OF THOSE POP UP CAMPER TOPS. THAT WOULD SOLVE 99% OF THE PROBLEM BUT IF THATS NOT YOUR THING THERE ARE A LOT OF GREAT RUST ABATEMENT GUYS AROUND. I THINK THATS EVERYTHING BUT I DO HAVE TO STATE VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD AS IS. IT IS FOR LOCAL PICKUP ONLY BUT WE WOULD BE HAPPY TO WORK WITH YOUR SHIPPING AGENT AND DO WHATEVER WE CAN TO HELP YOU OUT. ALSO THIS VEHICLE NO LONGER NEEDS TO BE SMOGGED WHICH IS ALWAYS NICE.

Hmmmm, it comes equipped with a Wench. Hey, they thought of everything… Like I said at the beginning of this mildly amusing post, this auction is about to end, and the current bid (as of this writing) is $2,026 with an unmet reserve. The Buy-It-Now price is $5,500, which is a whole heap of cash for this thing. See the listing, [sc:ebay itemid=”141029686647″ linktext=”1973 Dodge Power Wagon Van” ], and tell me what you think of it.

I would. I'm not sure what it is but I want a 4×4 Van. I have seen a few Ford Quigley (sp?) conversions for sale locally. Maybe one of these days.

I want a remote for my wench too. Instead of verbally asking somthing just push a button. Seriously I hqve a great wife who puts up with a bunch of crap . Love these kind of conversion vans but $5500 is to much for somthing that needs a bunch of metal work to quell the leaky roof. Maybe at $2200 it would be a good start.

It would need a mute button for sure.

The front bumper really is the best place to put your wench, I've found.

This being a big ol' van, I think an interior mounting point would be comfortable and practical.

highly doubtful that it's a powerwagon chassis with a tradesman body. Most likely it's a Tradesman with a 4×4 conversion by Pathfinder.

Uhh, why would you want that thing?
    Yech. Hideous.

Disposing of victims in remote sites accessible only with 4wd makes it less likely the body and other evidence will be recovered.
Jim, do you have any explanation for why, when I was searching for a picture of a Free Candy van, this picture was near the top of the results?

The premise is cool, but the build looks sketchy. And the buy it now $ is strictly one persons high hope.

"possibly the craziest “Power Wagon” ever"
Not to me. The craziest “Power Wagon” I've run across was owned by a dude who made a mud buggy by dropping a '73-ish Challenger on to a similar vintage W150 chassis. A Challenger with a 440 poking through the hood riding high on mud tires does leave a bit of an impression.
