Weekend Edition: The Pure Rambler Edition

 1 029

So, a few years ago, this olelongrooffan was out and about at the Turkey Rod Run down here in the World Center of Racing. While there, I captured this image of some cool old Ramblers which their loving owners had brought out for my viewing pleasure. I thought this was pretty cool but should my fellow Hoons choose to make the jump, you can see something I thought is equally as cool.

Now if my fellow Hoons viewed that video, the intersection of Halifax and Zelda is just a few blocks from my old Taj Mahal Beachside here in Ormond Beach. And the part with the car heading north alongside that body of water is over on Beach Street just up the street from the dude who had that shorty 57 Chevy for sale last year. When this olelongrooffan used to live Beachside in the Birthplace of Speed, I used to drive that street every day on my way home. Small world ain’t it?

That's pretty neat! A guy who used to live up my street had a Rambler when I was a kid, but his was flat black. This was before flat black was a fashion choice. I think he just didn't want it to rust and rattle canned the whole thing.

Ah, the lowly 220. You rarely see a 440 like we had, either on the road or in commercials. LRF, can you please post those Rambler picks somewhere? Thanks.

I worked at the Speedway for that year's Pure Oil tests. I installed the recorders that were
placed in each car and the 5th wheels as well.
Another year , I had the duty to observe each car coming to a complete stop at a sign which was
located near where the "Bus Stop" chicane is now on the backstretch. This was during the Fuel
    economy runs .
The AMC's were headquartered at a friend of mine's ESSO station in Holly Hill , and I actually
helped to shuttle some of the cars to Daytona from Jacksonville.
