VIDEO: 1967 Porsche 912 European Delivery Story

Those of us fortunate enough to be able to custom order a new German car have an option of picking it in the motherland (even if grandma is from Chicago). I know several people who have done the European Delivery program and every single one of them had an absolute blast on their trip. The car companies provide you with your car, insurance, tour of the factory/museum, temporary registration (notice the oval license plates in the video), and off you go like the Griswolds. (Hey look kids, there’s Big Ben)

This video was made by someone who picked up a brand new $4515 Porsche 912 in Germany. Following the delivery they decided to take the Porsche on a three-month ten-country camping vacation. This video, assumingly, is an edited and digitized version of the original video from the trip set to period correct music. At the end of the trip the car was sent to San Francisco where it was used a daily driver for fifteen years. Currently, with over 175,000 miles it is enjoying retirement, un-restored.
