Truck Thursday: Because UNIMOG

So this past weekend, this olelongrooffan hooked up with my Cobra, Aurora, Street Rod and Mustang owning friend TheKenMan and we spent the greater part of the day seeing as much as could be seen around here in FantasyLand. As will be, or has been, related here in the Hooniverse, we experienced a bunch of cool events and at one of them was this fantastic Unimog this olelongrooffan just had to share with my fellow Hoons.

Yeah, it was at the Naples/Marco AACA show down at the old train depot in downtown Naples that we caught up this this badass Unimog. No, this old rugged survivor was not in near the same pristine condition as was that Auburn Boattail Speedster but this one, my friends, carried its nicks and scratches proudly.

After spending time in the German military, although the placard doesn’t state whether this is east or west German at the time, this rugged truck was then pressed into action in Desert Storm in the early 90’s to assist in healthcare logistics. Whatever that may mean.

And although it is currently in the care of a local cabinet installation company, it has retained all of its original emergency transporting apparatus’ and, yeah, as a non military serving olelongrooffan, it looked pretty cool to me. I can only wonder at the tales this Unimog would relay to all of us, if that were possible.

Even the fold up jump seat and the communications tube between the cargo area and the cab were still in place and, presumably, operational.

And, fellow Hoons, know this olelongrooffan drank out of one of those plastic canteen jugs mounted on this dash board a bunch of times. My big brothers would bring one of those home every time they had leave from their military service and thejeepjunkie and I would commandeer those every time we saw one. Just a way to stay cool while hauling hay out of Dad’s field in that old Sweptside and to stay connected to our big brothers at the same time, I surmise.

And down under, this image reassures all of we Hoons this is no H3. It has all the vestiges of the real thing down to that chain saving any parts from becoming lost should they become detached. Yeah, it was a great sight to see amongst all those AACA show cars.

But Wait! Over There? Is that a Roosevelt? Gotta Go. Now.
