Toyota GR GT3 Concept – Here’s a bit more (All…Updated)

(Update: I’m an idiot. I noted that the Tokyo Auto Salon was being held January 14 to January 16, 2022. When I wrote that, it was 14 January in Japan. So, here’s the whole thing…)

(Now back to my OG post)

Toyota’s Gazoo Racing recently previewed a pretty impressive looking thing, the GR GT3 Concept. They called it a “a racing-dedicated concept car that incorporates the knowledge and refined technologies TGR has gained in the field of motorsports”

The original photo was a little dark, so I fired up Lightroom and got to work.

Here is another version I did via PhotoShop:

Aaaand here’s another one I found on the Twitter:

Usually these concept drawings don’t reveal much, even when you play around with the levels. But this one gives us a very good look at the new GR GT3. I love the long hood design, though it looks like like the 2021 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.

It’ll be interesting to see just how Toyota uses this new car. Will it be sports car racing as the name implies, FIA GT3 would make sense. I’d absolutely love to see a production version, are we still doing that homologation thing? Stay tuned, the world premiere of GR GT3 Concept and a fully tuned model of the GR Yaris will happen at the Tokyo Auto Salon being held January 14 to January 16, 2022.

The GT3 name sadly also implies there will never be a road version as Porsche has copyrighted “GT3” a bit like Pontiac did with “Trans AM”, except I don’t think Porsche even paid the FIA/SCCA or anyone, they just said “that’s ours” which is a bit arsey, but what’s new with Porsche..

It’s the reason Aston Martin called their hardcore Vantage the GT12 instead of GT12, which reminds me of a parody of those multi-blade razors. We can’t do 3? well we’re doing 12 because **** you, that’s why.
