This ’67 Ford F350 Project could become the Ultimate Overland Rig

It’s going to need an insane amount of work to realize the vision I have in my head, but hear me out. This 1967 Ford F350 chassis cab truck I found on Craigslist could become the ultimate overland rig. The asking price is low, the bones seem solid, and there’s so much room for activities!

This truck is listed on Craigslist and located in Garden Grove, California. Per the ad, it has a 460 V8 under the hood, a bill of sale, and a trailer. If you pony up the $3,750 asking price, you’ll need to trailer it home. I know it doesn’t seem like much right now, but think of what it could be.

With the chassis cab setup, your overland world is wide open in terms of what you could put on the back of this thing. Many pre-made options would drop in place, or you could start with more of an empty shell and build out the interior yourself. Keep the truck’s patina intact on the outside, lightly clean up the cabin, and get it mechanically perfect, and you’d have the coolest camper pretty much anywhere you go.

The road ahead to get it there will be a long one… but the end result could be absolutely awesome. The full listing can be found here: https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/d/garden-grove-1967-f350-chassis-cab/7857359734.html

Look again. It doesn’t HAVE a trailer, it NEEDS one to get home. So, for a no bed, no title, not running truck that someone swapped a later drivetrain into, the price seems steep. And if you get that 460/C6 running and then rig it for overlanding, you will be lucky to get 6 mpg on good roads.

Since it’s going to pretty much need everything anyway, it will likely be simpler to get a crash damaged 250/2500 4×4 truck with modern suspension and fuel injection and overdrive transmission, swap a ’67 cab onto it, and then build the rest of the rig.

    1. lol – yeah I meant to say YOU need to bring a trailer – was typing too quickly this morning pre-coffee.

  2. Overland? Used Hino cube truck. Convert the cube into RV. If I went all Mad Max, I’d be thinking in that direction.

I once owned a stretch Econoline with a 460. It got 10 MPG no matter what you put into it or how you’d drive it. Baby it around town? 10 MPG. Throttle it up 70 on the open highway? 10 MPG. A great rig if you needed it, a voracious pig if you didn’t.

  3. I LOVE IT, these old ford pickups just won’t die. Your idea of optional outfitting leads me into thinking camper, yes, car-hauler, yes, cargo box, yes, pickup box, yes, utility box, yes, flatbed, yes,
but then swapping them out would be a hassle so the next best thing would be to own several of these classics. Then you could match motor/driveline/suspension to each requirement. Best mileage with your 460 will be 10 , uphill or downhill,
I had a few bump sides, Your gonna love yours.
