The Year End Wrap-up for the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot

Some of the 60's era Obscure Muscle Cars written for this series.

As many of you may (or may not) know, I have a series of postings at CarDomain.com called the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot. I just thought the readers at Hooniverse would like to know how this little feature came to be, and to take a look at the year end round up taking place at the CarDomain.

The 50's Cruisers

There was a great feature I used to enjoy over at Jalopnik called the Fantasy Garage. It was a fabulous series that featured 50 lustworthy (and not so lustworthy) vehicles, that the readers would vote to induct the vehicle into the garage, or not. I use to e-mail that site to nominate what I though were worthy vehicles to induct, and most of the time they were ignored. I actually had a nomination inducted when Jonny Lieberman had the keys to the garage, the Tucker Torpedo. However, that feature went away shortly after Lieberman (Leaverman, remember?) left the J. And I really miss that feature.
The 70's OPEC Era Muscle

My opportunity to do something similar was handed to me over sixteen months ago, when I was asked to be a guest blogger at CarDomain. After I proved to Rob Einaudi that I could write interesting posts (Yes, I know, sometimes my postings are not interesting at all!) I pitched this series. My initial draft was to highlight obscure makes, and have the readership vote as to whether to induct them into a garage. Ah, but this was too close to the series that Jalopnik just ran, so I had to “tweak” the concept. So I re-worked the idea, and instead of a Garage, it’s a Parking Lot. Instead of Fantasy, I went for Obscurity. And Muscle Cars are always a favorite topic, but I didn’t want to do features on already established iron, and voila! The Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot was born. As a bonus, the CarDomain network has a huge fan base with people posting images of their rides, as well as how much time they spent on the build (if they actually built it). When I write a feature I try and highlight some of the CarDomain Member rides.
The Foreign Contingent

As 2009 comes to a close, I thought it was time to share with the readers at Hooniverse this feature, to see what you guys thought, and to take part in the voting process. Just follow this link, and vote for your favorites. I have broken down the contenders that I wrote about during the year into categories, which will run for several days. They include 50’s Cruisers, 60’s Unknowns, 70’s OPEC Muscle, the 80’s when Muscle Returned, Muscle Trucks, and the Foreign Contingent.
I want to thank each of you for taking the time to read my postings here and elsewhere. It’s been great to be part of the Hooniverse crew, and I hope next year brings may more enjoyable articles.
