The Cammed & Tubbed Podcast: Episode 88 – Jason And The Euronauts

C&T 88

Jason is back from his trek through Central Europe and he has a LOT to talk about. Sadly he didn’t get to experience much in the way of premium microbrews while he was there, but he did visit the Porsche and Mercedes museums, so there’s that. You know. If you’re interested in such things.

This episode’s topics include: The 3 D’s, EUROPE! EUROPE! EUROPE! AND MORE EUROPE! Brad talks about a recent TTAC article. Cam talks about his upcoming Dirt Rockets show. We all prepare for our upcoming Christmas Episode! Hold on to your butts! (It doesn’t really matter, nobody is reading this anyway, they’re all either sleeping in from going to Star Wars last night, or they called in sick to work today to go see Star Wars…)

No videos from us this week, but we briefly discuss this video of some lunatic riding his bicycle.

Always enjoy the podcast….what’s your opinion of the Porsche boxster S PDK 2013 model year. I test drove one today as well as the jaguar f type….

The jaguars out….just too isolated after driving the little boxster s. I dig the PDK….and I’m a manual guy for forty years…I’m just not sure I’m digging it more than my ls3 z51 vette…

Would you drop the coin to get a 10k mile fully loaded boxster s from a 440 hp m6 z51 corvette?

It’s like 40 grand out of pocket …

The corvette runs like clockwork….I think I’m going for another test drive…before I can make up my mind….the original MSRP on this certified 10k mile 2013 boxster s was fucking 83 grand?

I laugh as when you lease the car they charge around 45 percent depreciation on the vehicle and 100 percent depreciation on options….this sucker had 23 grand of options….base MSRP was 60k…they want 55 large? Overpriced or right numbers?

I’m still not sure if I wanted the car or not….I though about an older one but that whole IMS nonsense (only 6 percent if that) scares me off but hot dam if the pricing on older ones isn’t awesome. I do like the speed at which PDK shifts though.,,,40 years I still can’t shift they fast.

If you liked that one, but don’t want to spend the cash, you can get a 987 Boxster in pretty much the same configuration. None of the facelift cars (2008+) have issues with IMS, because they all use the same 9A1 engine that is in the 981 cars, and you can still get PDK. AND you get a car with engine-driven power assist steering. And it’s lighter.

55K for a car that was 83k two years ago? Yeah, that seems right. Is it more than I would pay? Absolutely. What were the options? For 55K, you can get the last gen Boxster Spyder, which is a better car in most ways.

Would I want a Boxster over a Vette? I’m not sure. Maybe? I know that’s a cop out answer, but I’d have to drive them back to back. Boxster has a better interior. Boxster is prettier (IMHO).
