The Cammed & Tubbed Podcast: Episode 116 – The Frants And The Furious

C&T 116James Mackintosh of the Top Dead Centered podcast joins us to chat about stuff for a while. James is a mechanic by trade, and brings an interesting perspective to the podcast, sadly we don’t really let him talk much this week. Brad and Jason have rants, and Cam is a general horses ass, which takes up most of the episode, obviously. I had meant to make a point of how interesting TDC’s most recent episode had been (they discussed why car guys get excited about cars with a non-car-guy), but I completely left it out of the show. In any event, we still had fun, and there was a bunch of stuff to talk about and we ran way over on time, keeping Cam and James awake well past their bedtimes.
This episode’s topics include: 2 of 3 D’s, Cam talks about sports for a while (inexplicably), Brad went to France (frants), Jason participated in a Forza competition at the Petersen museum, Jason talked about his time in the Sharkwerks GT2 from a couple of weeks ago, James is working on his dad’s Miata right now, we celebrated the 15th anniversary of The Fast & The Furious, praise Jalopnik for this piece, and talk about the new 0-60 mph world record car.     Just to add my two cents, the problem was NOT Ford’s sandbagging. The problem is sanctioning bodies that attempt to artificially manipulate competitiveness through performance indexes, sliding scales, variable restrictions and other ruling tweaks for individual teams. If race organizers weren’t tempted to play those sorts of shenanigans, Ford would not have been able to do what they did.
    Here’s an old-fashioned idea that could bring me back as a motorsports fan: print the same damn rulebook at the beginning of the season for everybody, then take a giant step back and let slip the dogs of war. Best team wins. Period.
