Saturday Matinee- King of the Mountain

King Of The Mountain

It’s too hot to go outside, so why not stay in and watch a cool old movie? If you’ve ever driven Los Angeles’ Mulholland Drive then you’ll know what a great road it is, all decreasing radius twists and sudden drop-offs with stunning vistas, and you might think while plying its macadam that this road would make for a great movie.

Well, not a great one, but King of the Mountain is still plenty entertaining, and stars chisel-featured Harry Hamlin, Golden Globe winner (but not for this) Joseph Bottoms, and Grizzly Adams! Sit back and let somebody else do all the climbing, right after the jump.

I love these cheesy movies. The Wraith, The Last Chase and Dead Head Miles are all ripe for a lazy day.

Have you seen Silver Dream Racer? If not, add it to your cheesefest.

Better than anything else on current US TV! Not that its really good, but its better than that.
Hopper was great in his usual character. Drinking both beer and whisky (from a pint bottle) while timing cars with a manual stopwatch. Had a great looking beater original Stingray, with no hood so you can see the throttle linkage working in some scenes. Its probably necessary to skip through parts (unless you have lots of free time and a high tolerance), but all in all some good old car pics. Acting is unreal bad.
