Let your speakers roar: 13 minutes of glorious race car noise from Daytona

The 24 Hours of Daytona gets underway in just a few weeks time. On January 25th, the green flag will drop and a sea of color, speed, and noise will be unleashed in Florida.  Race car time is nearly go. Do you want a taste of the noise a bit early? We’ve got you covered thanks to the good people behind the Goodwood YouTube channel.

In the clip above, you’ll find a wide range of classic and modern race cars. The symphony is varied and glorious. This is 13 minutes of aural bliss, and it’s the perfect capstone to your Friday afternoon. If you’re still at work, let this play in the background on a loop. It will help guide you into weekend happiness. If you’re not at work, crack open a beer, grab a wrench and fix something on your car, while this has you dreaming of on-track glory.

Either way… just hit play on the damn video already. And if you want a trick, right-click on the video if you’re watching it at its YouTube location then select “Loop”. You’re welcome.

After considering going to the Rolex 24 since 2003 (two administrations ago??), I am finally going this year. Yeah, lost years. Yeah, wasted time asking my partner each year if she’d join me. Assuming I love it, this will be an annual solo trip me. Gonna live like a drunk redneck motorsports fan on Saturday, see the fireworks, get some sleep at a hotel, and be back at the track before dawn. Got the breakfast garage ticket as well. It’s probably going to rain. It will be punishing. I don’t care. I have been an idiot not to do this sooner. I have been to IndyCar and IMSA events before. But this is the real deal. This ain’t Lime Rock (my lovely home track).

If you have the access, a stroll through the garages in the wee hours of the morning will never be forgotten. Also, spend some time in the bleachers at the western most Horseshoe if the opportunity arises. Also, if you get a chance, check out the exhibition of historic cars in the Fan Zone area. And definitely hit the grid pre race. Have a Blast!
